Monthly
Bible Verse

Join me in memorizing a verse/s each month and let me know your favorites.

JANUARY 2020

But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”  My times are in your hands. Psalm 31: 14-15

On New Year's Eve, my husband and I review our year, write the key things that happened and what we want to see for ourselves for the future. For our 20th anniversary, I made him a scrapbook of all these notes and our Christmas letters which also serves to highlight our adventures. Now it is easier to remember so much as I usually take photos and it is a great way to review the year.

I just read a blog by Edie Melson, who I can highly recommend if you are a writer. She suggests choosing a Bible verse for the year ahead and one word to help with God's direction for you. So this is the verse I have chosen and Trust is my word. How about you? What verse speaks to you? What word will you chose for 2020?

Blessings to you and your journey.

DECEMBER 2019

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This month can be hectic with presents to buy, wrap, send. Demands at school, work, home. A sentimental feeling about Christmas that tries to make all things wonderful and lovely even if it puts one under so much stress. An ever expansive to do list that seems to grown instead of diminishing. Reflections of Christmas pasts which can be laden with wonderful and possibly difficult memories. We tend to make it all more complicated that it really needs to be.

It is the 50th year of Charlie Brown’s Christmas, where he yells out, “Can anyone tell me what Christmas is all about?” And our wonderful Linus takes center stage and tells the story from Luke.

This month let us remember what it is all about. The scripture above celebrates this Christ child who came to earth and gave us the biggest present of all!

May your days be Merry and Bright, and may all your Christmases have His light!

Women at the Well

Congregational Church in Manhasset

1845 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY 11030

(516) 627-4911

Women at the Well is an excellent opportunity to experience a community of women who care. Here is what Rev. Lori Burgess who leads the group recently described her thoughts about Women at the Well.

"I think about how often our world feels defeating and the issues overwhelming. But I think too about the moments that we leave our time together feeling a little bit better about the world. Often I know I leave believing in the goodness of others and believing a little more in myself to make positive change. This is the gift of WATW. As we walk our own unique paths, we find comfort in each other.  We find solace in the notion that love always wins."

Come join us at 11:30am on Sundays at Congregational Church in Manhasset (right across the street from the Apple store).

People are talking about Tessa Afshar's spring retreat!

Award winning author Tessa Afshar's spring retreat at the Congregational Church of Manhasset in partnership with Seeds of Faith was a topical discussion on
An Ordinary Life of Extraordinary Significance

We had a wonderful turn out and again Tessa was an amazing speaker...

“So sincere, Tessa speaks from the heart.”

“Tessa’s presentations very thought provoking.”

“Surpassed my expectations. Her presentation was so natural, inspiring and informative.”

Here is a short clip from Tessa at last year's retreat. Listen how effective she is in her message to us!

Also, watch a short clip where Lisa is telling a terrific little story about the Daughters of Zelophehad from the book of Numbers in the Old Testament. This changed the course of history for inheritance for women!

What women are saying about Seeds of Faith:

“Reading about women in the Bible, together with the women in my everyday life, has been so satisfying and helped us connect to each other, and our community, in significant ways.

“Having a group of women to discuss our Christian experience and hear different points of view enriches my faith life.”

“I love being a member of Seeds of Faith. The books and discussions have offered me a new understanding of Christ as we study through the eyes of powerful women of the Bible.”
